Three Takeaways From Club America vs Tijuana
1. A fully rotated side dropped home points again
Almada changed every starter from the Pachuca match, and Club America still could not find a winner. The leaders have taken one point from their last two home matches.
The draw also denied Club America a mathematical top eight clinch. A win would have taken them to 30 points and settled that question early.
Club America remain first on 28 points, two clear of the field, with three matchdays left.
2. Gilberto Mora returned for Tijuana
Mora started on the bench and entered in the 57th minute. It was his first league appearance since September 20, 2026, when Tijuana played at Pachuca.
He played the final 33 minutes plus stoppage time. His night included one shot off target and a corner taken for the visitors.
His return gives Tijuana another attacking option for the run-in. Three matchdays remain, and the club has a place in the top eight to protect.
3. Tijuana keep climbing without winning away
The point moved Tijuana from eighth to seventh. They are unbeaten in five league matches, with one win and four draws in that run.
Tijuana have still not won away this tournament. Their away record is five draws and one defeat, and five of those six trips have finished level.
The draw followed their 4-1 home win over Santos Laguna on Sunday. Rodríguez and his defense protected this point against 26 shots.
What the Result Means
Club America stay in first place with 28 points from 14 matches. They have eight wins, four draws and two defeats.
Cruz Azul and Chivas de Guadalajara are second and third on 26 points. Both have also played 14 matches.
Tijuana are in seventh place with 21 points from 14 matches. They have five wins, six draws and three defeats.
Tijuana sit one point ahead of Monterrey and Queretaro, who both have 20 points. Those two clubs still have a pending Jornada 7 match to play against each other on November 14, 2026.
That pending match can still move the positions around Tijuana before the regular season is complete.
No qualification or elimination is confirmed for either club. Club America have not mathematically clinched a top eight place, and Tijuana remain in the race.
The top eight clubs advance directly to the Liguilla quarterfinals. Apertura 2026 has no Play-In round.
