As per Brazilian news outlet Universo Online, Tottenham have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Bordeaux forward Malcom ahead of the January transfer window.
The Ligue 1 outfit knocked back a £31million bid from the north Londoners as they are looking to hold on to the 20-year-old Brazilian till the end of the campaign.
Malcom has been in outstanding form in the French topflight this term, registering 7 goals and 4 assists to take his involvement in goals since arriving from Corinthians last summer to 24.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has made signing an out-and-out winger a priority ahead of January as he looks to bolster his attacking options.
Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha is also being targeted, but Malcom is seen as an affordable and quality option.
The youngster is also able to play behind or beside a striker – a versatility that comes handy at a side like Tottenham.
While the depth such quality player brings to the table would help boost their campaign during the second half, Spurs will have to wait till summer to have a chance of landing one of the most-wanted wingers in the market.
