Ian Wright has said that he prefers Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld over Southampton star Virgil Van Dijk.
Alderweireld and Van Dijk are two of the best central defenders in the Premier League at the moment and Wright prefers the former.
Alderweireld is currently injured and his absence was shown during Spurs 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City during the weekend.
Though Van Dijk’s performances in the Premier League this season have been mixed, he is widely regarded as being one of the best central defenders in the Premier League and has been linked with move to clubs including Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.
When asked about who he prefers of the two defenders, Wright said: “Alderweireld.”
Meanwhile Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino has admitted that he cannot control the future of Van Dijk recently and this has led to speculation that the 26-year old could be set to join one of Chelsea, Manchester City or Liverpool in the near future.
