Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he may need to recall youngster Cameron Carter-Vickers from his loan spell with Sheffield United due to the injury concerns surrounding Toby Alderweireld.

The Belgian international Alderweireld suffered a hamstring injury in November during Spurs famous victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League and a recent scan has revealed that he will be out of action at least until February.

As a result of this, Pochettino has admitted that he may need to recall Carter-Vickers in January to add extra defensive cover to his side.

“Yes, it’s a decision we need to talk about in the next few days,” Pochettino told reporters.

“It’s true that today with Davinson suspended, maybe the squad looks a little bit like we need someone.

“But I think we have different players that can play there, and I think I am happy with the squad. We’ll see.”

Carter-Vickers has made progress at Sheffield and has made 13 appearances for the club who are aiming to launch a promotion push.
