Everton battling with Arsenal in the race for midfielder

According to reports, Everton are hoping to sign Turkish star Ozughan Ozyakup from Besiktas. They will however have to compete with his former club Arsenal.

Arsenal sold Ozyakup for a fee of just £400,000 in 2012. He has since gone on to become a key member of the Besiktas team and has helped his club win the Turkish League during the past two consecutive seasons.

Arsene Wenger believes that he could be a good replacement for Mesut Ozil. Ozil’s current deal with the Gunners is set to expire at the end of the season and he has yet to renew his current contract, which has led to speculation that he could leave the club at the end of the season.

Turkish source Fotomac has revealed that the Toffees have been given permission to speak to the representatives of Ozyakup with a view to completing a deal during the January transfer window.
