Crystal Palace boss makes big fitness admission regarding star

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has revealed that Christian Benteke could return to action ahead of his team’s game against Everton on November 18.

The Belgian international has been out of action since injuring his knee ligaments during his sides 5-0 defeat against Manchester City six weeks ago.

According to Hodgson he is however making progress and could return to action in time for the Eagles game against Everton which comes after the international break.

When talking about whether Benteke could be back in time to face Everton, Hodgson replied saying: “Yeah. I spoke to Roberto [Martinez] the other night, we were at the [Spurs] game together on Wednesday.

“He’s aware of the fact this is a medial ligament damage and it’s a six to eight week injury, it’s now about six or seven weeks since he actually did it and we are actually hoping that he will be able to train almost fully with us during the international break.

“But of course it will again be monitored and going to an international team where you’d be expected to play for 90 minutes he’s not ready for that at this moment in time.”

Palace desperately need Benteke back considering that the club are struggling and he is one of their most talented players.
