Henry Martín is likely to miss Mexico’s November squad for the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals against Jamaica, according to Rubén Rodríguez.
Rodríguez reported the doubt in his Mediotiempo column on Wednesday, November 4. The Mexican Football Federation has confirmed nothing about Martín’s status.
Mexico’s official squad list is presented on Thursday, November 5. Only that list will settle whether the Club America forward is in or out.
What Rodríguez Reported
Rodríguez wrote that the Mexico coaching staff is thinking about the future of the national team attack. That thinking works against Martín, despite his strong form with Club America.
In Rodríguez’s words, it is “muy probable no verlo convocado para la Nations League.” In English, that means it is very probable that Martín will not be called up for the Nations League.
Rodríguez listed Kevin Álvarez, Israel Reyes, Erick Sánchez and Isaías Violante as the Club America players set to be recruited. Martín was named separately, as the big doubt over a return.
A separate Claro Sports report on November 4 reached a similar conclusion. That report does not confirm Rodríguez, and this story should be read as reported only, not confirmed.
Why the Decision Would Stand Out
Martín has scored 10 goals in 13 Apertura 2026 matches for Club America. He has started 12 of those matches and played 1,014 minutes.
He is the top scoring Mexican player in the tournament. Only Salomón Rondón, with 15 goals for Pachuca, has scored more overall.
Martín has scored seven goals in his last six league matches. That run includes a brace against Toluca in Jornada 15.
His last Mexico appearance came in November 2024. He scored twice in a 4-0 win over Honduras in the second leg of the Nations League quarterfinals.
That history made a return look possible this month. Raúl Jiménez is out injured, and Mexico needs a proven scorer for its first official matches under Rafael Márquez.
What Comes Next
Mexico presents its official list on Thursday, November 5, in the afternoon. The selected players are due to gather in Cancun from Sunday.
Mexico visits Jamaica in Kingston on Saturday, November 14. The second leg is on Tuesday, November 17, in Monterrey.
If Martín is left out on November 5, his wait for a Mexico return will stretch beyond two years. If he is named, this report will have been overtaken by the official list.
For now, the status is simple. Rodríguez reports that a call up is very unlikely, and the federation has said nothing yet.
