Barcelona plotting a shock move for Tottenham youngster

According to a report published by the London Evening Standard, Barcelona Sporting director Robert Fernandez is tracking the progress of Tottenham defender Harry Winks.

Winks has become Spurs first choice right back since the departure of Kyle Walker to Manchester City during the summer transfer window and he has impressed in the role so far.

His performance was also good during Spurs 3-1 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The report added that Fernandez went to watch the draw between Spurs and Madrid which took place in Madrid with the intention of monitoring Christian Eriksen. However it was Winks who ended up impressing him.

Winks has now established himself as a key member of the Spurs team and the North London club will be naturally hesitant to part ways with him.

Whether he stays or remains at Spurs could ultimately come down to whether the club wins trophies in the near future.
