Jose Mourinho has responded to Tottenham’s Champions League victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday night by claiming that his side deserved more credit for defeating Spurs in the Premier League last weekend.
Spurs pulled off the upset of the Champions League thus far this season when they defeated defending Champions Madrid through a brace from Dele Alli and a strike from Christian Eriksen.
Though Cristiano Ronaldo managed to find the back of the net late on, his effort was nothing more than a consolation and the game ended off 3-1.
When asked to comment on the performance of the North London side, Mourinho diverted attention to his own side.
“They beat Liverpool 4-1 and Real Madrid 3-1 but did not score against Manchester United, so we deserve credit,” he said.
United meanwhile, face yet another challenging encounter in the Premier League this weekend as they prepare to take on defending Champions Chelsea.
