Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier has revealed that he is pushing for a place in the England national team after establishing himself as Spurs first choice right back.
“I think personally it’s one of my best performances since I’ve been at Tottenham, and throughout my whole career to be honest,” Trippier said.
“Playing against these players, playing in the Champions League, it just what you dream of as a young boy and I can only thank Tottenham for letting me do that.”
Trippier was named as a member of England’s 25 man squad that was announced by manager Gareth Southgate on Thursday and he will be hoping to play during the upcoming friendly internationals against Germany and Brazil later on this month.
Trippier is on a good run of form and produced a sterling performance during Spurs 3-1 defeat of Real Madrid on Wednesday with good crossing. Trippier’s rise is as a result of persistence.
After joining Spurs from Burnley in 2015, he was required mainly to serve as cover for Kyle Walker. However following the departure of Walker to Manchester City during the summer, he has become a key member of the squad.
