Tottenham star Alli explains why he is angry with himself

Tottenham star Dele Alli has revealed that he is “kicking” himself after missing a good chance to score as his side slumped to a 1-0 Premier League defeat against Manchester United on Saturday.

The loss marked Spurs third of the season and it means that the deficit between themselves and first placed has been extended to eight points. Anthony Martial sealed victory for United when he scored late on during the second half.

Spurs did have a good opportunity to get something from the game when Christian Eriksen played in a fine chipped pass to Alli. The youngster however sent his shot wide.

Speaking after the game, Alli expressed his disappointment at missing, saying: “It’s one of those… If I had that opportunity 10 times I’d put it away the majority of the time.

“In my head I was thinking all I needed to do was make contact and it was in. It hit the top of my foot and went wide.

“I’m kicking myself. I should have scored and I have to make sure the next time I get a chance like that I stick it away.”
