Tottenham star Harry Winks has revealed that Luka Modric was one of his heroes.
Modric was on the books of Spurs between 2008 and 2012 before he eventually earned himself a move to the Spanish giants where he has managed to establish himself as one of the top midfielders in the World.
It was at Spurs where Modric proved to the World that he is a classy player and laid the foundations for his eventual move to Madrid.
Winks had the opportunity to play against the Croatian international when Spurs played against Madrid in a Champions League clash two weeks ago and Winks has since admitted that he looks up to the player, saying: “Luka Modric was one of my heroes.
“I saw him training when I was U15s and U16s but never actually got the chance to train with him. It was a little bit surreal lining up next to him in the tunnel.
“He is somebody I would love to emulate, his playing style. I’m not the tallest – neither is he – so his style is something I look up to. He seems like a great guy off the pitch too, that’s something all the lads that have played with him have said.”
