“No-one in UK better in his position” – Pundit raves about Celtic star

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton is never one to shy away from airing his opinions, no matter the amount of controversies they seem to court, and his latest claim is bound to even attract a lot of them.

According to the pundit, Hoops’ Kieran Tierney is the best left-back in all of the United Kingdom, and he went as far as claiming he’s better than Tottenham’s Danny Rose – a player that has made the last 2 PFA Team of the Year in the EPL.

Writing in his Daily Record column, the former Chelsea star boldly claimed: “Kieran Tierney is Britain’s best left-back.

“At the age of just 20, I genuinely believe there is no-one from the UK better in his position or with more potential.”

Sutton believes Manchester City’s Benjamin Mendy and Chelsea’s Marcus Alonso are the best foreign left-backs in the English topflight, before further claiming: “When it comes to the UK, I see Rose, Bertrand and Tierney as the best.

“And, given that Rose is 27 years of age and may only have about five years at the highest level left in him and one less for Bertrand at the age of 28, Tierney has over a decade in the locker.

“That, to me, makes him just as or even-more valuable than that pair.”

Tierney is without a doubt his best in his position in Scotland, but not many will agree he can even stand toe to toe with Rose’s former understudy Ben Davies, not to talk of the well-established fullback.

The 20-year-old Celtic star is bound to leave for the EPL soon, and a lot is expected of him going forward.

His willingness to burst forward and link up with the attack has been well-praised, and should he continue growing at this rate, he could end up establishing himself as one of the best in the game.

The hype around the youngster is massive, and one can only hope he goes ahead to prove himself at the best league in the world.

Sutton even believes Tierney is worth as much as £50million, and did write: “If Manchester City are willing to shell-out £52 million to Monaco for Benjamin Mendy, Celtic should start the bidding at almost as much for their superkid if anyone comes knocking at their door for a deal.”
