Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that his team have defensive problems heading into their Champions League encounter with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Ben Davies was unavailable for selection during the Lilywhites game against Bournemouth on Saturday and according to Pochettino, he will also be unavailable when the club takes on Madrid in Spain.
When asked if Davies could recover in time, Pochettino said: “It’s difficult. I don’t believe so. I hope that he can be involved again as soon as possible, but we need to assess him. But I am not so positive. I hope that I am wrong and tomorrow he can train with us.”
Danny Rose, who returned to light training with the team recently, is also still a few weeks away from returning to action.
Should Pochettino be forced to utilize Eric Dier in defence, it could present the club with problems given that Moussa Dembele and Victor Wanyama are likely to miss the game through injury as well.
