Sampdoria star Dennis Praet has opened up on the summer transfer links to Newcastle and Everton while adding that he does one day hope to play in the Premier League.
The Magpies were reportedly pushing hard to land the signature of Praet with Sampdoria willing to accept a fee in the region of £17.5 million for a sale.
Praet played 34 matches in all competitions last season for Sampdoria and scored one goal. Should he play well this season then there is a good chance that he may be chased especially as he has a release clause of only £22 million.
The player has now weighed in on the transfer reports and said, “I didn’t want to leave. I love this club and the president is a special person. He has a great approach with footballers and that’s a huge difference compared to [former club] Anderlecht.
“I know Sampdoria received some offers for me but I did’t even talk with any other club as there was no agreement between them.”
