Tottenham man gives sole reason why he underperformed last season

Tottenham ran riot at the Goodison Park on Saturday, condemning Everton to a 3-nil defeat via goals from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen.

Left-back Tom Davies also stood out with his performance in what was a generally impressive outing by Spurs’ players.

A surprising top performer for the day was last summer £30million signing Moussa Sissoko.

The 28-year-old was handed his 2nd start of the season, and unarguably put in his best performance in a Spurs shirt by a country mile.

The former Newcastle man covered every blade of grass and looked close to the Euro’s 16 version of himself.

Following a poor campaign last term, Sissoko was tipped to leave North London this summer, with a move to Turkey reportedly close.

However, it appears he would play a big part in manager Mauricio Pochettino’s campaign this season having featured in every of the 4 league games to date.

The player was happy with his performance against Everton, and told reporters why this season would be different from the last for him.

“This season is totally different because I had the pre-season with the team”, claimed the French international.

“Last season I signed at the last minute and didn’t have the pre-season so it was difficult.

“Now I feel good and ready to fight, like everyone, and to try to give my best for the team. I hope I will do well this season and we will all do well in the league, in the Champions League and in the cups.

“When you start you’re always happy. The manager gave me my chance and I tried to give my best. I think I did well, like all the team, so I’m happy.”

Sissoko twice came close to opening his Tottenham account, and it’s only a matter of time until he does. Should the real Sissoko turn up all-campaign, Spurs can be rest assured of finally getting good value for their £30million investment.
