Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has opted to leave out Vincent Janssen and Erik Lamela from his side that will compete in the Champions’ League group stages.
Lamela has now been out of action for close to a year after sustaining injuries to both of his hips.
Janssen meanwhile has struggled to find form at the North London club and scored only 6 goals across all competitions last season from 35 games in all competitions.
The 23-year-old has also fallen down the pecking order at the club following the arrival of Fernando Llorente from Swansea. Should the Dutchman fail to get regular game time which is likely, he may well leave the club during the January transfer window.
Tottenham will play in a difficult Champions League group alongside the likes of Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and APOEL.
Madrid will be favorites to win the group and Spurs could face a tough battle with Dortmund for the second qualification position.
