Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has praised youngster Dele Alli after he kept his calm following a reckless stamp on by Jonjo Shelvey.
Shelvey ended up earning himself a red card due to his actions but Alli did not react. Alli has in the past had disciplinary problems of his own and been criticized for his anger. However on this occasion, he did manage to keep composed.
Alli went on to score a goals as did Ben Davies which resulted in the Lillywhites prevailing 2-0 and starting the new season on a good note.
Pochettino praised Alli following the incident, saying, “He was calm – that’s important. Last season, we talked a lot about that, how we need to behave and improve and learn.
“He’s mature enough now to accept sometimes what happens on the pitch, but he is so calm, he is so brave.”
