Southampton is reportedly about to submit a record breaking transfer fee. According to The Mirror, the Saints and Italian powerhouse Juventus, have agreed on the transfer of Mario Lemina for £18 million.
The 23-year-old midfielder will become the most expensive player in Southampton’s history.
According to the same source, the Gabonian international has declined the interest from Stoke in order to sign with Southampton.
Mario Lemina joined Juventus in 2015. In two years, he has appeared 42 times, scoring three goals. Before this, he was playing for the French teams Lorient and Olympique Marseille.
He was a part of Lorient’s youth system, and in 2012 he signed a professional contract with them. In 2013 Lemina joined Olympic Marseille, where he played 41 games during the next two years, attracting the interests of the top European clubs.
He was also a member of the French under 21 national team. But in 2015, the influential midfielder decided to play for Gabon, and so far he appeared 9 times, scoring two goals for his home country. If the deal goes through, currently there are reports that Lemina will undergo a medical soon, Southampton would have a very talented player that should shine in the EPL.
