Virgil Van Dijk hands Liverpool a huge blow

Virgil van Dijk may have put an end to speculation suggesting that he could move to Liverpool during the January transfer window by claiming that he is happy at the Saints.

The Dutch international was a priority target of the Reds during the summer transfer window and even handed in a transfer request to try and make a deal happen, however in the end, the Saints insisted that they would not sell.

Considering that Jurgen Klopp’s teams defending has cost them dearly this season, it remains to be seen whether they will again try to swoop for the 26 year old in January.

Van Dijk said: “Firstly, I don’t think it’s appropriate to comment on anything that happened before. But I am giving 100 per cent for the club. I work hard every day, I help my team-mates, I’m positive and I want to win every game. I am happy and that’s the most important thing so we will just see what happens.”
