Liverpool will reportedly not launch a bid for van Dijk until Southampton allow them

According to reports Liverpool will not launch a bid to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton until the Saints allow them to do so.

This is probably due to the fact that the Merseyside club had to issue an apology to Southampton last month after they were accused of tapping up the player.

The Dutch international van Dijk has been strongly linked with a move to the Reds as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his side ahead of their Champions League campaign next season.

The player has reportedly informed Southampton that he wishes to leave the club and link up with Liverpool and has been training alone since.

Southampton’s manager Mauricio Pellegrino has recently also admitted that van Dijk wishes to leave his club saying, ‘The boy said that he is not available to play because he wants to leave.

“This is the decision. I had to say ‘if you don’t want to be involved because you don’t feel OK, then you have to train alone until this period of time happens’.”
