Tottenham’s faint hopes of winning the English Premier League title this season suffered a major blow after they were defeated 2-0 by Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
According to former Leeds United and Manchester City defender Danny Mills, Spurs “were too rigid” and need a player who has similar qualities to Phillipe Coutinho to improve. The North London club were totally dominated during the match.
Mills also feels that the Pochettino and his charges regularly misfire against bigger teams and that they lack ‘a second option’. He told Sky Sports News, “Tottenham I feel are just a little bit too rigid, especially against some of the bigger teams that defend better.”
On the other hand, the win certainly comes as a welcome relief for Liverpool who experienced a mini-crises and loss in form prior to the victory. They now lie just one point below Spurs on the standings.
Despite the loss against Liverpool, Spurs are still in form, having won seven of their previous ten matches in the Premier League.
