Deal Close: Tottenham to sign star on a long term deal

Eriksen

According to the Mirror, Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen has reached advanced contract negotiations with Tottenham on a contract that would lock the Dane up until 2021.

Even though Eriksen’s locked up until 2018, Tottenham still want to lock up their star-man on a long-term deal as he’s a highly important member of manager Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Eriksen arrived from the Dutch club Ajax back in 2013 for £11 million and is one of the only bright takeaways from that transfer period where Tottenham brought in a ton of players with the money they received from selling Gareth Bale.

This season he started off slow due to playing on the left side instead of right up the middle. More comfortable playing in the No. 10 role, Eriksen’s creativity was stinted on the left side.

After talks with his manager, Eriksen’s recently been back playing behind the striker in that centre attacking role and has been in exceptional form. He’s a huge reason why Tottenham are sitting in second place in the Premier League and are real title contenders.

The 23-year-old has four goals and eight assists in 22 Premier League appearances this season. Many should be delighted at the possibility of locking up Eriksen on a long term contract.
