Chelsea are looking to replace Diego Costa with Cameroonian international Vincent Aboubakar, according to reports from L’Equipe (as cited by Kick Off)
Following his fantastic debut season at Chelsea last term, Diego Costa has endured a very difficult period during the current campaign.
A combination of a dramatic loss of form, unnecessary disciplinary problems as well as a public spat with former manager Jose Mourinho has meant that Costa’s relationship with the Blues’ faithful has been left strained.
While Costa has enjoyed an upturn in his form since the appointment of Guus Hiddink as manager, the Spaniard is believed to be not entirely happy at Stamford Bridge and a move back to Atletico Madrid has been seen as a possibility for the 27-year old.
Aboubakar being courted by Chelsea
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will look to dispense with the services of Costa but nonetheless, the Blues continue to be linked with a swoop for a new striker and now according to reports from L’Equipe, claims have been made that the Blues are considering replacing their controversial striker with Cameroonian international Vincent Aboubakar.
Aboubakar is considered as one of the most promising young strikers in the world and has enjoyed a fine campaign with Portuguese side Porto so far this term after managing 11 goals in 23 appearances.
Aboubakar’s exploits as well as potential has caught the eye of Chelsea and the Premier League side are now ready to splash the cash in order to land the services of the powerful front man.
