Tottenham complete major signing on deadline day

Tottenham have completed the signing of Fernando Llorente on transfer deadline day.

The 32-year-old Llorente joined the Swans from Spanish club Sevilla last summer and went on to score 15 Premier League goals last season to help the Welsh side avoid relegation from the top flight.

He was also said to be a target of Chelsea, however the defending Premier League Champions did not make an official bid.

The Spanish international is familiar with Blues boss Antonio Conte, having worked with him during his spell at Juventus but has decided not to reunite with him.

Swans boss Paul Clement had been hoping to keep Llorente at his club for this season, though he did admit that something could happen before transfer deadline and he has now joined Tottenham.

The player will add experience to the Spurs team and could do a good job in terms of supporting Harry Kane in bringing goals for the club. It now remains to be seen if Vincent Janssen will slip further down the pecking order at the North London club.
