Tottenham Hotspur reportedly closing in on a deal for another defender

According to reports, Tottenham are closing in on a deal to sign Estudiantes youngster Juan Foyth.

After breaking into the Estudiantes first team in January, the 19-year-old Foyth has come to be regarded as one of the most highly rated young defenders in World football.

He had been linked with a move to PSG earlier on in the summer, though a deal is reported to have broken down.

It now appears that the North London club have won the race to sign the youngster with manager Mauricio Pochettino being instrumental in the negotiation process.

Pochettino has a good reputation of doing good work to promote the development of young talent and this may have appealed to the Argentinean Foyth, who is reported to have said, “It’s a club that bets on the young and I think I’m going to have a chance to play.

“I also spoke with Mauricio Pochettino and I liked what he said. It was what helped me decide that Tottenham was the right place to continue my career.

“He told me to go, train and that I would be involved I would play. He also told me what the club was like, what job idea it had.”
