Tottenham star Dele Alli believes that new signings can help improve his side following the arrival of Davinson Sanchez from Ajax.
Sanchez is one of the exciting young players in world football having helped Ajax to reach the final of the Europa League last season.
The Colombian joined the North London club last weekend for a club record £40 million and became Mauricio Pochettino’s first new recruit of the summer.
Youngster Alli has now revealed following his team’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea this weekend that he believes that increased competition for places in the team will improve the side.
Speaking about Sanchez’s arrival, he said, “It’s a positive step, I think we’ve got a strong side at the minute anyway so any player that the gaffer and the chairman thinks is going to help the squad can only be a positive.
“Competition is always good so I’m sure the players at the back will be working hard to try and keep their places and he’ll be coming in and trying to fight for his place. If everyone’s trying and everyone’s playing well it can only be a positive effect on the team.”
Spurs have failed to win a major trophy since 2008, when they won the League Cup and this will be something that worries them especially as they have narrowly missed out on Premier League glory during the past two consecutive seasons. This will be something that they will need to change soon or the club will risk losing their big-names.
