Tottenham reportedly have £22million bid for 23-year-old midfielder rejected

Kovacic

According to reports, Tottenham have had a £22 million offer rejected by Real Madrid for Mateo Kovacic.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly a fan of the 23-year-old Kovacic, who has been linked with a move to the North London club all summer.

Kovacic was largely used as a squad rotation player by Zinedine Zidane last season and considering that the Spanish giants are likely to use him in a similar fashion next term should he remain at the club, a transfer away for the Croatian had been seen as a possibility.

In addition to convincing Madrid to sell, Spurs will face competition from AC Milan, Inter and Napoli in the race to sign the player.

Though Spurs saw their latest offer rejected, it remains to be seen whether the Spanish giants will be open to listening to offers which are higher. The figure which Real would like for a transfer to happen remains to be seen.
