4. Daley Blind
Silky, silky, silky. And no, I’m not talking about his hair. Well that’s debatable.
He made his centre back debut during United’s preseason tour and it was then, that his versatility was well and truly appreciated. The fight to find the Robin to his Batman began between Smalling and Jones, who were due to be the centre back partnership for a long time.
Not only does he possess the capabilities to defend like he has been his whole life, but his forward passing has been remarkable, which we first got glimpses of during the World Cup. Starting attacks with accurate, cushiony passes has created many goals this season such as Memphis’s goal versus Brugge, as well as scoring himself against Liverpool.
Not only is he a very, very clever defensive asset to the team, he is also a key build-up player. His eye for a pass and executing the pass comes effortlessly and he deserves all the praise he gets. Also credit to him for keeping that hair intact, even after such a tough season.
