Colombia reached the final Group stage of the Olympic qualifier by ending play in Group A with 7 points, trailing Argentina, which finished with a perfect four wins out of four matches. Colombia defeated Ecuador and Venezuela after starting off the qualifier with a loss to Argentina.
Colombia then faced Chile in the last match of the Group, against a strong Chile squad that had the same amount of points, but a smaller goal differential. Colombia needed only a draw to move on to the final Group Stage, and did just that with a nervy 0-0 score.
Now, Colombia must look to finish in the top two spots of the final Group in order to get a ticket for the Summer Olympics. No easy task, considering the group is made up of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. Brazil and Argentina have won all matches they have played so far.
