Marcelo Bielsa had a fantastic start to his tenure at Leeds United with a 3-1 win against Stoke City at Eland Road. Mateusz Klich, Pablo Hernandez, and Liam Cooper scored the goals that led to The Whites’ victory and “El Loco” Bielsa and The Peacocks will now try to take down Derby County away from home.
The Rams had a 2-1 win against Reading in their first game in the new Championship season in a thrilling game where Tom Lawrence scored the game-winner in stoppage time. Derby will be a tough task for Leeds as they have a talented roster with a good mix of young talent and experience.
There is experience in net with Scott Carson and in the backline with players like Curtis Davies and Ryan Keogh. The midfield is arguably the strongest component of the Rams team with Joe Ledley, Craig Bryson, and Mason Mount; very fitting for a team managed by Frank Lampard. The attack also has its intriguing players like Tom Lawrence, Harry Wilson, and the very experienced David Nugent.
Marcelo Bielsa used a 4-1-4-1 formation and it is unclear if he will use the same formation or even the same players. The Argentine manager kept some very interesting players on the bench like Patrick Bamford, Stuart Dallas, Pontus Jansson and Lewis Baker and he may tinker with his starting 11. Kemar Roofe specifically had a very quiet match and Patrick Bamford could be a solid replacement for him.
Leeds United is off to a fruitful start under the leadership of “El Loco” with that win against the recently related Stoke City and this will be another tough game, especially away from home.
