This Saturday, March 3, 2018 (3:00 PM Pacific) Cruz Azul will host Queretaro at the Estadio Azul for a game in the 10th round of matches in the Liga MX Clausura 2018. Both teams have struggled in the competition but were poised as potential playoff candidates prior to the season’s start.

Cruz Azul has been one of the most disappointing teams in the Liga MX this season, currently in 15th place with eight points. Pedro Caixinha is already in the hot seat as his pragmatic style of play has not translated well with this team. La Maquina has not won in its last six games and inclusively only has one win in this Clausura 2018.

The latest result for Los Cementeros was a 2-0 loss to Santos Laguna away from home and the home-field advantage may not be enough to win this game. Cruz Azul is yet to win at home in this semester and is obliged to earn the three points from this encounter in order to remain in playoff contention.

Queretaro has not fared much better than Cruz Azul, currently in 13th place with nine points after nine games. Los Gallos Blancos have not won in their last three games but should be able to provide a competitive effort in this clash. Luis Fernando Tena’s side has been solid defensively as it has only allowed eight goals in the Clausura 2018.

Tiago Volpi has still proven to be one of the best goalkeepers in the league and the attack has some intriguing players like Edson Puch. The Chilean forward is the focal point of the offense as he currently has four goals and is arguably the most talented player in the squad.

Cruz Azul vs Queretaro Prediction

The game should be an entertaining and intense clash as both teams are currently in dire need of points in this Clausura 2018. FutnSoccer predicts a deadlock 1-1 draw between the two teams in Mexico City that will not help either side’s playoff contention cause.
