Tottenham have sealed a £25million winter transfer move for Brazil international Lucas Moura, with manager Mauricio Pochettino finally getting to add some depth to his squad.
The arrival of the former PSG forward has put an end to suggestions that Spurs could recall attacking midfielder Josh Onomah from his loan at Aston Villa.
Pochettino revealed ahead of the Southampton clash: “Josh still continues there but we still have a week or 10 days to decide if he stays or we bring him back here.”
However, The Independent has now confirmed that: “Tottenham will not be recalling Josh Onomah from his loan at Aston Villa this window. He’s staying until the end of the season.”
While another attacker might not arrive north London before Thursday following Moura’s move, letting Onomah to continue his development Villa Park is way to go.
The 20-year-old, though not the first name on boss Steve Bruce’s team sheet, has been integral to the Villans’ promotion ambitions, scoring 4 goals and assisting another in 15 Championship starts and 8 substitute appearances.
Onomah is becoming a better player gaining vital experience at the club, and it would come handy in the near future when he looks to establish himself as a first team regular for Spurs.
