Celtic reportedly will look to sign 29-year-old ex-Premier League goalie as Gordon’s replacement

Celtic vs Hearts

As per the Scottish Sun, Celtic will look to sign a replacement for the injured Craig Gordon before Wednesday transfer deadline, and Motherwell goalkeeper Trevor Carson has been considered.

Gordon suffered a season-ending blow after injuring his knee during weekend’s clash against Hibernian, and he’s now set to sit out the next 12 weeks.

Backup goalie Dorus de Vries replaced the Scotland internationalist for the remainder of the clash, but manager Brendan Rodgers wants another quality goalie.

While a deal for Carson could fall through as it’s understood that the clubs are some distance apart in their valuation of the Northern Irishman, Celtic’s urgent need for another goalie could force them into pushing for a late move for the former Sunderland shotstopper.

The 29-year-old has played the majority of ‘Well’s league games since arriving from Hartlepool United last summer, but a juicy offer could see the club let him leave for Parkhead in order to give promising 21-year-old, Russell Griffiths a chance to further develop.
