Aston Villa reportedly to battle with Birmingham in the race for striker

According to reports, Aston Villa could be set to rival Birmingham City in the race to sign Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick.

Steve Bruce is keen to bolster his side with another striker this month in order to boost his sides chances of winning promotion and to provide competition and support for the likes of Keinan Davis and Scott Hogan.

The 30-year-old McGoldrick is reported to be the latest player on the radar of Villa and he could be sold for a sum of money in the region of  £500 000, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The Villains have also been linked with Leicester City’s Leonardo Ulloa, though signing him could be a difficult interest with many other clubs also interest.

McGoldrick has plenty of experience at the highest level and could provide Villa with the experience that they need in the absence of Jonathan Kodjia who will miss the rest of the season.
