OFFICIAL: Rangers sign talented midfielder on the cheap

According to The Times, Rangers have signed Greg Docherty from Hamilton Academical for a reported fee of £680,000. The player has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Scottish giants.

Gers manager Graeme Murty has been hunting the Scotland U-21 international since the beginning of the January transfer window, as he identified him as a number 1 target.

Rangers are desperately trying to close the gap on the league leaders Celtic, and the 21-year-old midfielder could be a major boost in that race, considering his qualities and determination.

Docherty possesses tremendous potential, something he already demonstrated during the first half of the season. He has excellent vision and technique, combined with solid passing and striking abilities.

It is understood that the player has been pushing for a move to Ibrox ever since he found out that Rangers were after him.

Rangers have strengthened all the critical areas of their squad this January. Now, it is up to Murty to use the newcomers in the best possible way.
