Serie A giants reportedly come after Celtic star as replacement for EPL-bound man

According to Birmingham Mail, Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has become a January transfer target of Serie A giants AS Roma, with the Italian outfit looking to replace the seemingly Chelsea-bound Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnia international striker is believed to be on the verge of returning to the English Premier League as the Blues look to add another striker this month, leaving Roma with no choice than to seek a quality and long-term replacement.

Roma sporting director Monchi has been a huge admirer of Dembele from his Sevilla days, and he will pull out all the stops to bring the 21-year-old to Italy if Dzeko, formerly of Manchester City, leaves.

The ex-Fulham striker has been linked with a Parkhead exit since the winter transfer window opened, and despite an unsuccessful £18million bid from Brighton, the interests of the Italian outfit could still see him depart if a more tempting offer is brought to the negotiations table.

There is widespread belief within the Celtic camp that Dembele’s heart is set on leaving Glasgow this month, and nothing can be ruled out in the last days of the window.
