EPL giants reportedly enter the race for Tottenham target

Kovacic

According to the ESPN, Manchester United have joined the race for the signature of Real Madrid star Mateo Kovacic, also followed by Tottenham Hotspur.

The 23-year-old midfielder has struggled to break into the Los Blancos’ first eleven given the fierce competition from Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, and Isco, so he might consider leaving Santiago Bernabeu to boost his World Cup chances.

The former Inter Milan playmaker has excellent technical and tactical qualities, combined with a superb vision and passing abilities.

The Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is looking to add some additional quality to his midfield, as Moussa Dembele underperformed this season, leaving Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen only reliable options in the center of the park.

Despite the lack of game time, Kovacic has great potential to develop into one of the best playmakers in Europe, and the London based club could offer him space to do just that.

However, Jose Mourinho is looking to pair the Croatian international with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, as Michael Carrick nearing retirement.

Nonetheless, Kovacic would hardly leave Real Madrid during January transfer window unless a miracle happens.
