Liverpool rivals reportedly set to tussle over talented defender

Anfield

The Independent have broadcasted the news from the Daily Mirror regarding the future of highly-rated Charlton Athletic youngster Ezri Konsa.

According to the same reports, Liverpool would be willing to offer around £5 million to bring the talented defender to Anfield, but they’ll have to beat the city rivals Everton in the race for his signature.

The 20-year-old centre-back has been considered as one of the most promising young defenders in the English football after winning the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup with England U-20 squad.

The Reds have experienced difficulties with their backline following poor performances from Dejan Lovern, Ragnar Klavan, and Joel Matip.

Jurgen Klopp is desperate to add some fresh blood to his defense, and after the acquisition of Virgil Van Dijk, Konsa could be the next hit.

However, Sam Allardyce is also interested in bolstering his team ahead of the second half of the season. He has identified the promising defender as a perfect replacement for the veteran Phil Jagielka.

It is still unknown whether the League One club would be ready to renounce Konsa this January as they are battling the Championship promotion spot this season.
