According to The Mirror, Sunderland midfielder and Celtic January transfer target Jack Rodwell is strongly considering moving abroad to play first-team football as he looks to put the nightmarish last 6 years behind him.
The English Championship outfit are more than happy to terminate the contract of the 26-year-old who has been a flop since arriving in 2014.
However, the Hoops emerged as surprise suitors for Rodwell’s signature, with manager Brendan Rodgers reportedly keen on helping him resurrect a career that has failed to live up to expectations since he left Everton for Manchester City in 2012.
The Premier League winning-midfielder isn’t too keen on continuing his career in the United Kingdom, though, and his decision might have dealt a huge blow on Celtic’s chances of landing him.
The Scottish giants are looking to add depth to their midfield going forward, and while Rodwell’s plans to move outside of the country and its environs appear to have dent their hopes of a deal, they could actually be dodging a bullet.
