Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has informed the club that he will not discuss extending his contract with the club until after the January transfer window.
Benitez still has 18-months remaining on his current contract with the Magpies. The Toon Army are certainly keen for the former Real Madrid and Liverpool boss to remain as manager.
However Benitez wants to ensure that the clubs board backs him sufficiently in the transfer market as they promised.
Benitez earns around £6 million a year managing the Magpies, however his relationship with the clubs owner Mike Ashley is strained as he feels that promises made to him over player recruitment were misleading.
It was a year ago that Benitez began to become frustrated. Last January, he thought that he had created a deal which would see Andros Townsend arriving at St James Park, however the board fail to get the move to be successfully completed.
