According to reports, Sunderland are keen on bringing Ethan Ampadu on loan from Chelsea for the second half of the season.
The Black Cats are eager to bolster their side as they look to try and avoid relegation from the Championship.
Having already taken out Jake Clarke-Slater from the Blues, Black Cats boss Chris Coleman is also looking to bring in Ampadu from Stamford Bridge.
Financial restrictions means that Coleman will find it very difficult to secure permanent transfers and he will have to look into signing players on loan.
Coleman knows Ampadu well and it was he who handed the youngster his debut for the Wales national team.
Ampadu has made five first team appearances for Chelsea this season, including his Premier League debut which came against Huddersfield Town.
Having come through Exeter City’s Academy, Ampadu can operate in central midfield and is also comfortable playing in the heart of defence.
