According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester City have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race for the signature of Liverpool’s midfielder Emre Can, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The 24-year-old German international is free to negotiate personal terms with the interested parties, with Juventus leading the chase.

However, City’s manager Pep Guardiola seems to be keen on bringing Can into the ranks of Citizens, as Ilkay Gundogan is struggling with injuries and Fernandinho has different characteristics from those preferred by the Spanish expert.

On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp has reconciled with the loss of the Turk. The former Borussia Dortmund coach is already looking for Can’s replacement, with several names flowing around.

The former Bayer Leverkusen player is destined to leave Anfield after refusing to extend his deal with the Merseyside club.

The Reds will have to act on the market to fill the hole left by Coutinho’ departure, but as things stand, they will also have to find a new midfielder to support Jordan Henderson.
