Leeds reportedly want January deal for striker with most Championship goals since 2013-14

According to Express, Leeds United want to bring Derby County striker Chris Martin to Elland Road on loan till the end of the campaign.

The Scotland international is way down the pecking order at Pride Park, with only 5 of his 23 Championship appearances this term starts.

A poor return of 1 goal within the period means regular playing time will be much harder to come by for Martin, and Leeds are looking to add him to their misfiring attackline.

Although signing the 29-year-old is a huge gamble for manager Thomas Christiansen’s side based on his current form, his record of 62 league goals since 2013-14 suggests he has enough experience in front of goal to become a hit at the Yorkshire club.

Martin is also attracting interests from Cardiff City, Fulham, Reading and Sunderland, and the battle for his signature is bound to be tough for Leeds.

The workrate of the tireless Scot makes him a constant nuisance to defence, and should he manage to rediscover his form at Elland Road, the Whites might be playing in the topflight next term.
