As per Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool are in prime position in the race for the signature of AS Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri.
The 23-year-old is also attracting Juventus, but Roma will prefer not to sell to a rival with Premier League offer likely to be tabled.
Palmieri only returned to action last month after missing the start of the season to a cruciate ligament injury.
Nevertheless, his potential means the Serie A giants aren’t keen on selling except his £22million buy-out clause is met.
Liverpool aren’t exactly thin at left-back, with the trio of Alberto Moreno, Andrew Robertson and James Milner all capable options in the role.
However, manager Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t mind another top quality backup and competition – boxes Palmieri ticks well.
His combination of top-notch attacking and defensive abilities makes him a great prospect and option, and with the Liverpool links not going away, it looks as if something could actually be cooking.
