Talks to finalize Rangers 3rd winter deal reportedly expected to start this week

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are expected to enter talks with Hamilton Academical over the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Greg Docherty this week after making an official approach last Friday.

Having already secured the loan signings of Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy, the Light Blues are hoping to make the Scotland international their 3rd arrival of the winter transfer window as manager Graeme Murty’s squad rebuilding continues.

The Rangers boss confirmed an approach for Docherty has been made, revealing that: “We made an approach, but that’s as far as things have gone.

“We are looking to bring players in because we want the group to get stronger and be better.”

English Championship outfit Cardiff are also keen on Docherty’s signature, but it seems Rangers will be beating them to his signature.

The Scotland international can be the creative spark the club need, and with 3 goals and 4 assists in 21 Premiership games thus far, it’s clear that he has what it takes to succeed at Ibrox.

Docherty famously secured Accies Premiership status with the winning goal during last season’s playoffs, and Rangers can expect such inspired moments from him if a deal is gotten over the line.
