According to the Scottish Daily Record, Celtic are interested in signing Schalke forward Franco Di Santo this January, as Brendan Rodgers looking to boost his offensive department. The news was formerly published by the German media.
During the current campaign, Guido Burgstaller has been the first-choice striker ahead of the 28-year-old, who could leave Gelsenkirchen looking for some regular first-team action.
Before moving to Germany, Di Santo played for Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers, so he has experience with style of football on the ‘island’ of England.
Di Santo is a versatile attacker, with superb finishing. He can play as a center-forward, and as a second striker. Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is preparing an assault on the forward, as he wants to be ready in case Dembele moves away from the Celtic Park.
For the moment, this story is only a speculation as neither side confirmed any contacts yet. However, considering that Celtic are going to battle Zenit St Petersburg in the Europa League knockout stage, they will need some additional quality upfront.
