Few days after adding German defender Marvin Compper to their squad, Celtic could be landing another of their defensive winter transfer targets absolutely for free.
Reports doing the rounds in Poland claim the Hoops are close to securing a loan deal for Arsenal starlet Krystian Bielik till the end of the season, but they face competition from Legia Warsaw.
The 20-year-old is held in high esteem at the north London club, and it doesn’t come as a surprise that he has played for Poland’s under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-19 teams.
Arsenal want Bielik, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, to go out on another loan spell to further his development following a 6-month stint with English Championship side Birmingham City last year.
Celtic are seen as a place where his footballing lessons can continue, and the Hoops’ need for backup in the position makes a deal likely.
Bielik stands at 6ft 3in and besides his aerial advantage, his technical ability to read games makes him an accurate tackler.
The Polish youngster sure has what it takes to provide quality depth at Parkhead.
