Newcastle reportedly close to agreeing deal with club to land Ligue 1-winning left-back

As per talkSPORT, Newcastle are interested in bringing Crystal Palace left-back Pape Souare to Saint James’ Park on loan till the end of the campaign.

The Senegal international has lost his spot at Selhurst Park to the duo of Patrick Van Aanholt and Jeffrey Schlupp after a car accident left him sidelined for a year, and it’s said the Eagles are willing to let him go on loan in order for him to recover his form.

Newcastle and Palace have held talks over Souare, and the former Lille defender, who helped the Ligue 1 side to the title in 2010–11, could be on his way to Tyneside soon.

The Toons only recently saw first-choice left-back Paul Dummett return to action since August, and manager Rafa Benitez is looking to add another top quality this month.

Souare’s attacking prowess and physical strength can help Newcastle at the back and also in attack, and should he finally work his way back to top form, a permanent deal for a player with great quality could be sealed.
