Sunderland reportedly told they must wait to complete major signing

Sunderland have reportedly been told that they must wait on signing Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn.

The deal has allegedly been delayed because of Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona which was confirmed on Saturday.

The injury of Mohamed Salah has also made the Reds re-think whether it is the best decision for them to send the youngster out on loan for the remainder of the season.

Woodburn made headlines last season after he became Liverpool’s youngest ever goal scorer after netting against Leeds during an EFL Cup tie.

He has struggled for game time this season and that has been because the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Salah and Coutinho have all been in good form.

Black Cats boss Chris Coleman was the man that gave Woodburn his debut for the Wales national team during a world cup qualifier against Austria last year and should the Reds decide to send the player on loan, Sunderland will likely be the destination.
